Saturday Workshop

Spaces available on a Two Part Hand-Building Pottery Workshop which takes place on two Saturday afternoons - the 8th October and the 29th October - 2.30pm to 4.30/5.00pm.

The cost of the workshop is £70 which includes all materials and firings up to stoneware temperature. To book, go to the 'Locations and Bookings' page and send a message.

Nature-Inspired
Pottery Workshop

In part one of the workshop on the 14th May, participants will make their own nature-inspired piece of pottery using slab-building techniques, paper templates and moulds. The workshop is for both beginners and those with some experience and there are six spaces and the two tutors, Lucy Houbart and Sara Byers*, will help everyone to make their own individual piece.

In the second workshop on the 28th May, participants will glaze their piece (which will have had its first firing) using a wide choice of glazes. Depending on the technique chosen, this workshop may not take the full two hours*.

*Joint Tutor for the Workshop - Sara Byers:
"I love working in 2D and 3D and met Lucy at Camberwell Art college when we were 18 which is a very long time ago and I'm really excited to be able to work with her again.

I'm a sculpture technician at Camberwell college on the BA & MA courses and love working with people as they discover different processes and techniques and get creative. I also work in Museums and Galleries devising and running family workshops and art activities as well as working with schools on various art projects.  I currently work at the Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark in London and have always had a passion for ceramics as well as all kinds of sculpture."
