About Bushey Pottery - founded by Lucy Houbart

I started Bushey Pottery in January 2018 to fullfil a need for Pottery classes in Watford, Hertfordshire. I'm the tutor at the Watford Grammar School for Girls Pottery Evening Class, which has been going for over fifteen years now. It's popularity has grown, showing that there is an increased demand for places for adults to learn and practice this wonderful craft. I first started doing pottery at primary school and continued to degree level, training at Camberwell School of Art and Craft.
Teaching pottery is a rewarding challenge wrapped up in lots of fun! I love helping others to express themselves whilst working creatively with this amazingly versatile material. Pieces can be used for domestic use in the home or garden or solely as works of art. Many people enjoy making unique and personalised gifts of their work to give to friends and family.
Bushey Pottery is a light and fully equipped studio space in a 21 square meter timber cabin. It's nestled under the trees in a natural setting at the end of the garden. A peaceful place to get inspired whilst learning a new craft and working together with others. We enjoy using different types of clay to work with and firing at either earthenware or stoneware temperatures. I also offer a wide range of glazes which are included in the class fee. Below are pictures of pieces by myself and class members.
